TE 803: Professional Roles and Teaching Practices II
Semester: Spring 2009
Instructor: Cynthia Carver Description: During the second half of my student-teaching internship TE 803 and the instructor pushed the interns to explore their student demographics and community. By taking in-depth looks at my students and their community I was better able to understand, and thus better able to teach, the various learners. This was done by developing a personal Vision Statement, highlighting my goals as a new teacher. Secondly, by selecting two students to focus research and lesson development around in a Belief essay. CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice
Semester: Fall 2011
Instructor: Tammy Maginity and Jodi Spicer Description: Educational issues are the driving force behind this course and the projects/activities. Specifically this course increased my attention to the major problems in education, including those associated with technology. Rather than simply identifying the issue though, I was also able to address and improve the educational problem through the use of other technologies and resources. This course took me through all the steps of problem solving with technology that was directly applied to my classroom and students. |
Example: A Wicked Problem encountered in my classroom (and others) has been student conducted research. This project focused on how to better prepare and educate students on their researching skills. My process and outcomes are outlined in this video.

CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research
Semester: Summer 2012
Instructor: Danah Henriksen and Leigh Wolf
Description: As this course title suggests, CEP 822 educates individuals on how to conduct research in the educational field. I was allowed to select a topic that would be relevant to my career, so I chose to research Standards Based Learning. Fraser High School has been considering moving towards a Standards Based grading system. This course allowed time and definition for my exploration into this topic and gave me far more insight into the topic than many of my peers. The course and my research was very beneficial as the district has decided to move forward with SBL.
